Awards Coming Out the Waa-Zoo

Kylie over at Random Thoughts gave me and a bunch of other really kickass bloggers some awards and I'm a little (read: a lot) late in recognizing them here. So without any further nonsense, here we go:

Award #1: The Adorable Blog Award!

Rules: Include the award logo in your blog or post. Nominate as many blogs which you like. Be sure to link to your nominees within your post. Let them know that they have received this award by commenting on their blog. Share the love and link to this post and to the person from whom you received your award.

Award #2: The Lemonade Stand!

Rules: There wasn't really any rules with this one so I'm just going to thank Kylie and move on!

Award #3: The Awe-Summm Award!
Rules: I am supposed to list seven awe-summm things about myself and tag seven awe-summm bloggers. So here goes:

1. I’m wicked funny and I can make most people laugh with my dry and sarcastic demeanor.

2. I tend to live in the moment and try not to let things I cannot change bother me (which irritates Husband to no end – he interprets this behavior as me not caring about things, but I use it to live relatively stress-free, so I consider it awesome)

3. I try to give Daughter a positive body image along with trying to give her the message that being a girl rocks the house (as I’ve told her many times, girls are better than boys, because not only can girls do anything a boy can, but we also can have babies!) No offense to any male readers out there! You guys rock too, but just not as much :)

4. I am the Queen of the BBQ. I do all the grilling at our house, which I know some guys would consider to be a major offense. (I think he’s just lazy and would rather I cooked EVERYTHING – except, of course, spaghetti sauce.)

5. I have an uncanny ability to remember lyrics, artists and song titles of LOTS of 80s songs.
Play me a bit of a song and I can usually name it. I remember Scritti Politti, Alphaville, Baltimora, Johnny Hates Jazz…yeah. I know. Sad.

6. I once wrote a term paper in my persuasive writing class in college about the death of Marilyn Monroe. While everyone else wrote about abortion and gun control, I argued her death wasn’t a suicide and blamed it on the mob, the Kennedys, or an accidental overdose. I got an “A” probably because my professor was thrilled as a pig in shit that she didn’t have to read another boring topic. It was fun to research that one!

7. I consider my friends to be like my family and cherish them very much.

Award #4: The Sexy Blogger Award! (About Time someone recognized this in me! :))


Rules: I am supposed to list five sexy things about me. OK, here goes:

1. I have naturally curly hair and green eyes.

2. I take good care of my skin by using moisturizers and exfoliating on a regular basis so it’s soft to the touch.

3. I make sure that if I am wearing shoes where my toes or heels are showing, that I have polished my toenails and moisturized my feet. No one wants to see funky toes and dry-ass heels. No one.

4. I am a Pure Romance consultant, so I have a readily available stock of “relationship enhancers” on hand at all times. (If you need anything, let me know!)

5. I’m open minded. I’ve pretty much tried everything on my sexual to-do list. Give or take one or two things.

Well, there you have it. Now I need to pass the love on like an STD at a frat party (Thanks Kim, for that one!)

I'd Like to Thank the Academy

I won a blog award, y’all!

Courtesy of my very favorite blogger in the world, my friend, SG. For those of you who do not know, a blog award is a virtual award that bloggers receive when they have a really kickass blog. Or at the very least, a blogger friend who thinks your blog is kickass. Same difference. As told on SG’s blog, The Zombie Chicken Award is explained:

The blogger who receives this award believes in the Tao of the zombie chicken - excellence, grace and persistence in all situations, even in the midst of a zombie apocalypse. These amazing bloggers regularly produce content so remarkable that their readers would brave a raving pack of zombie chickens just to be able to read their inspiring words. As a recipient of this world-renowned award, you now have the task of passing it on to at least 5 other worthy bloggers. Do not risk the wrath of the zombie chickens by choosing unwisely or not choosing at all…

So now my part is to name five blogs that I think are worthy of passing along my Zombie Chicken Award…hmmm, this should be easy. I wouldn’t want to risk the wrath of the Zombie Chickens. I have enough everyday shit that happens without having to deal with that!

Well, obviously, SG’s blog, Perfectly Cursed Life, would be numero uno on my list. Her blog is the reason I started mine. Besides it being funny – as she has a rapier wit -- it’s also a spot on depiction of her hilarious take on her everyday life. I can say this, because she’s my friend and I know she speaks the perfectly cursed truth. However, since she gave me the award in the first place...this isn't a circle jerk, folks. So, besides Perfectly Cursed Life, here are my five favoritest blogs:

1. Margaret and Helen. As with many of my favorite blogs, I discovered this one through the aforementioned SG. This blog is so delicious, I need a fork and knife when I read it. It’s written by Margaret and Helen – two women who have been friends for over 60 years. I often laugh out loud when I read this blog because these ladies are funny with a capital F. But it’s only funny if you hate Ann Coulter and Sarah Palin…

2. Rectory Enterance. I came across this one from SG’s list of favorite blogs, and I fell in love. Well, not literally, but I love reading Phoebe Caufield’s blog. As she describes her blog – it’s “a rich chocolately base of liberal politics filled with creamy feminist ganache, wrapped in religious fondant, with some lightly-toasted humor sprinkled on top.” Anyone who can describe her fantastic blog is that mouth-watering description, is alright in my book.

3. A Blondie Moment. Also found via SG, I love this blog. It reminds me very much of "Bridget Jones' Diary", except for the fact that she's not British. If you loved the book and/or movie, you'll probably love this 20-something Blondie.

4. I hate so much. Only someone with an attitude like mine can find as much joy as I do from this blog that describes everything the writer "loves to hate". You should take a peek and then you'll realize how much you agree with her about EVERYTHING. Honestly, there really is so much in this world that is so fun to love to hate.

And Finally....

5. Random Thoughts. Like all of my favorite blogs, I again found this one through SG's blog. I hate to not have any original findings on my list, but I think SG would be flattered that I found her recommendations so freakin' awesome.
